Description | How can we make research more relevant? How can we take research outside of its “ivory tower” and bring it closer to those who need it most? How can we “decolonize” social sciences and develop more inclusive approaches to research? Participatory research is a broad tradition of research practices aiming at offering practical answers to such questions by including the people studied in the different stages of research. It is a cutting-edge approach answering the epistemological and methodological concerns of critical theories and market-oriented disciplines, as well as the needs of public and private sectors (international organisations, NGO’s, government agency, industry) for community-, user- and consumer-based research. |
